Do you assist new businesses who are not yet started?

No, I have chosen to focus on existing business who have an established track record. I have made exceptions to this but not very often. Most investors today want proven success first before investing.

How many clients do you work with at one time?

I never work with more than 5 clients at the same time. As I complete certain assignments for 1 business, I normally have others waiting for my assistance. I am very conscious of timelines and never over commit myself.

Are you a business broker?

I am not. Business brokers normally take anyone and are not selective and never take the time to understand the businesses they sell. I will only take a client who is looking to sell their business if I feel the valuation is fair and there is a 90% chance of achieving a sale within 90 days.

What is your selection criteria for taking on another client?

There are many factors that I take in to consideration when evaluating potential clients. The most important one is whether my past experience and successes can be helpful with this type of business and can I add value. Of the 100’s of business owners I hear from monthly, I only select about 5%.

Why do you charge $500 for your initial consultation?

I normally spend about 8 hours on each consultation which includes the actual meeting, time visiting the customer’s website, doing research on their industry, and preparation of the evaluation and recommendations. This initial consultation is a learning process for both parties and either party may decide after this meeting, that there is not the right fit. I charge this fee since my time is limited and valuable, and I feel my time is worth the fee I charge. I have yet to have a complaint from anyone I have met with.

Do you personally invest in any businesses you consult with?

By getting involved in a consulting project with a business owner, I am investing my time with all clients I take on. I have at times made investments but this is on a rare occasion. I have a large network of high worth investors who are eager to invest in the right opportunities but they want to see the business maximized first, which most businesses today, are not.
